Much like our school, Hermiston would be in the old IMC or Portland league and would travel a minimum of 2hrs to 4hrs, one way for every league contest. That would go for nearly every other school in their league as well, when they traveled to Hermiston. Shit is expensive. I get why they pushed for it. This is going to save their school a ton of money. They already couldn't pass another school bond because they have the highest property taxes in the East due to so many bonds and school expansions.
Hermiston will continue to grow and eventually will either have to build another HS or continue to stay in WA since there are no other schools even close to their size.
This is not the first HS to do something like this. I know of schools in NV, AZ and CA this because it just makes sense.
There will always be the whiners that complain about this but have no problem sending their kids to the OWA state kids tournament every year using an OR relative as a way to get in.
