Obviously families are going to go where their kid can have an incredible wrestling experience. Heck a coach might even crack a smile and say to the prospect you would look good in an XYZ singlet. Not supposed to say things like that but it's hard to resist.
The issue is coaches who aggressively pursue out of district kids. At wrestling events they look like a guy hard selling cell phone plans out of a booth at the mall. And let's not forget the follow up telemarketing to close the deal.
For every one that actually does transfer there are a handful who walked away from the deal. These parents and kids will then complain to their hometown coach about being recruited.
In the end these are just rumors piling up over years. But did you ever notice not one of these coaches ever denies it? They smirk like the Mona Lisa and say nothing. In the end the message board is talking about their program and they view it as free advertising.
