What you are describing is poach recruiting. Everyone agrees it is sleezy and that is why some specific coaches will have a lot of wins but get zero respect.
If your son cannot crack the line up by going up or down than you might also accept that he is not wired to be a varsity wrestler. You could look on the bright side that he is getting mat time with good opponents in practice. If he whittles down the distance between him and the move in he could exceed his personal best which is all one can really ask for in the sport.
Also I think Lake is getting a bad rap in this thread. They are not poachers who solicit kids to try make move ins happen. Lake Stevens (unlike other poach dependent schools) actually develops kids who shouldn't be at the top into state champs. This is a stark contrast to those schools who have a ten year drought of no homegrown champs and where kids who should be state champs get worse.
