A dermatologist would need three days of culture growth to determine if it was staph or MRSA. The issue is, the tournament staff does not have three days to make that call. That is why they have to rely on their eyes and experience. If they have a note stating they have been on antibiotics for a week and the sores are scabbed over and look clean, they can be cleared. If their note says they have eczema, which is non-contagious but the sores are oozing puss and wet, then they know what they are looking at (a cover up) and they are 100% right in telling that wrestler that unfortunately his season is over. The safety of the wrestler themselves and other competitors is the #1 concern. I hope the medical staff at the dome this year is monitoring carefully.
