As far as your other comments about other wrestlers....that is the first honest evaluation I have ever read on here about some of the promoted "best ever" wrestlers of the past. You left off a couple other best ever promoted wrestlers, but your evaluation is spot on.
Chandler Rogers....I said he would not AA last year, but would most likely AA this year IF he would work on improvement of areas I have talked about for years on this site.....looks like he has substantially improved!!
As far as what Washington needs to do in order:
. Wrestlers looking to go to the next level, attend eastern summer camps as much as they can....exposure to eastern wrestling is essential.
.Teams looking to get better....get out of the NW, get to back east tournaments and at a minimum skip tri state and go to Reno TOC
. Parents looking to help their kids,....find a club where they are challenged with multiple partners.....even better, find a club where your son is dominated and roughed up at times!!
.Look at Fargo success as just one piece....the problem with the people you mentioned, is they were great freestylers but lacking in full range of collegiate skills.
. College bound wrestlers need to focus on development of stalemating techniques, defense in general, mat skills toughness and overlooked and often of underated importance...."mat management skills"(Washington steamrollers really lacked mat management skills, they never had a need to develop)
Lastly, if possible for college bound wrestlers....hire a private ex d1 wrestler while in high school....private tutoring, as early and as often as possible.
As far as my boys...I make it a point to NEVER talk about my kids.....but I think from the above comments I think I answered your question.
