well... if its just one night out i would say a 42 gallon contractors bag, 15ft of light cord, small knife, and a road flare. you can use the cord and trash bag to make a lean-to, the knife to shave kindling and carve stakes for the lean-to and the road flare to start a fire. im not sure on costs but its cheap and light i know. if its only one night you wont need food or water.
