Posted by MJC427 First off, your pack cover. I use a garbage disposal trash bag as a pack cover, pack liner, or even to put trash in that I'm hiking out. They weigh very little and they're tough. Do you need the tent stakes for setting up your tarp? If you have guy line and trekking poles they seem redundant. I'd do some experimenting and see if yu can leave them home. What is the function of the one liter water bottle and three liter bladder? I'm not sure where you are hiking, if it is desert or if you are far from reliable water sources I suppose they would both be needed, but it seems like a bit of overkill to me. I carry a one liter bladder and simply refill at all water sources. If the 1 liter bottle is your fuel container, I would look into getting something smaller and lighter like a Platy Lil' Nipper. 1 Liter of fuel is a lot. Honestly, this may be kind of yucky, but when I'm going on only a couple of day hike, I take a Listerine Pocket Pack with me and skip the toothbrush/toothpaste. I figure a couple of days without the brush won't kill me, especially since my trail food is much better for my teeth than the stuff I eat at home. Duct tape I just wrap about 5-10 feet around a pen shaft and then I not only have a pen which is harder to lose, but I have my fix all without carrying a whole roll. I would leave one of the short sleeved shirts in your car, along with one pair of socks, and one of the boxers. Unless your pants are so uncomfortable that it's impossible, I'd just use the boxers then wash, and go 'commando' while they dry. Same with the socks, I'd wear one pair then wash them and wear the others while they dry. What is you pack weight minus food, water, fuel and clothes? (I don't count those items since they are different for each person and trip.) Hope this helps, and have fun out there.

Looks pretty thorough to me, but it does seem that you have some duplicate items that you may be able to leave at home or in your vehicle to save weight and space. Also, depending on what you are using, you may be able to save some more weight with a few items.
