Posted by Marty I'm hiking in an area that strongly suggests a bear safe container. However, I don't want to haul the big black 3 pound + canister for a single night out for only 1 person. Now there is no requirement for bear containers where I hike. So I can use even "non-approved" bear canisters. Does anyone know what lighter alternatives would work ? I'm willing to try to make or modify existing canisters etc. The Bearikade weekender is just too pricey for me at 195$ + shipping + duty + taxes + customs brokerage fees = $$$ Thanks for your help.
