Actually Fuel for the alcohol stoves is the most widely available fuel along the AT . Denatured alcohol can be had at just about any Hardware store as well as the hardware section of stores such as Walmart,Ames etc. Heet in the yellow bottle is also available at those types of stores as well as automotive stores and gas stations. In a pinch Everclear (sold in liquor stores) can be used but it is more expensive than the others . Rubbing alcohol(isopropyl) or the Heet in the red container can be used but it will leave soot on your pot. For more info check out the forums at www.whiteblaze.net Streamweaver
