I have used both liquid and canister fuel stoves and now only use my Hank Roberts canister stove adapted to use screw on fuel canisters.
Traditionally there seem to be two strikes against canisters which do not bother me; 1)cost: the cost difference on an annual basis is not a lot unless you use the stove several days per month, 2)problems at very low temps: this can be dealt with by keeping canister in bottom of sleeping bag or inside jacket if temps get low.
Liquid stoves are more messy and smelly than canister; also I can control the flame better with my stove than liquid variety.
The size and packability of the Hank Roberts (or EFI) stove is another plus for me.
