Posted by Alex You'll need; take your 9/16" socket and remove the needle fitting from your Gerry tighten the whole thing down, close the valve on the gerry, and screw on the cylinder. listen and smell for leaks. no leaks? turn the valve on, just a tiny bit, and light the stove. let it warm up a bit, then start cooking! let me know it this helps. I took my Gerry stove valve assembly down to Ace hardware, and we got it converted with two parts, plus a new coleman propane cylinder.
-- a 1/4" Male pipe thread x 1"-20 female throwaway cylinder thread
-- a 1/4" x 1/4" flare to fpt adapter
-- some teflon tape
-- a coleman propane cylinder
using lots of teflon tape, couple the Gerry valve assembly (looks like an aluminum cross with a knob on one end) to the flare to fpt adapter, and then couple the adapter to the propane fitting (looks like a nozzle with a big needle sticking out of it.
Note: the cylinder I am using is too fat for the stove to sit level, so I set the stove on a thin peice of plywood. torch tanks are skinnier, but you have to prop up the tank.
