Year of Manufacture *: 2005 ( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: Z19DT
As per the heading the alarm goes off, usually after just a couple of minutes. After messing with aftermarket tools I have now borrowed a genuine Tech 2. There is one fault code "B2966 Driver door knob" which does not clear. Internet "research" suggests that many vauxhalls survive perfectly well with this code logged. I plugged in a new door latch with no change to this code. The first thing I did was replace the siren as older Vauxhalls commonly suffered with these. I cracked the old siren open but the design is different with an "off board" battery and there was no corrosion damage. It was not possible to program the replacement siren successfully so it was sent back and another one was fitted. This one did program successfully. But the alarm still goes off. When looking at the alarm trigger log"Alarm code 14 Alarm siren Alarm Activated" is logged. Each individual word is English but strung together they don't seem to make a sentence! Can anyone shed a light on where this could be trying to point me? Bonnet, boot, four doors, glass break and ultrasonics all appear good. Power to the siren appears good and was stress tested to a couple of amps, there also appears to be comms with the siren. When the siren goes off the indicators do not flash. Just about to deliberately set the alarm off to see if they do flash for a normal alarm trigger. If the siren is disconnected I get the "Safeguard" message on the info display which does not occur when it is connected. If the siren is left disconnected then the car horn goes off and the indicators do flash a couple of minutes after locking. As background the customer lost his keys on one occasion and had them stolen on another, so the car has had a couple of lock changes. I don't know if this was just mechanical or if any programming was involved, I'm a bit worried about BCM configuration etc. Another possibility is a fault with the driver door module, but if this was the case then surely the alarm trigger would indicate a driver door event surely?
If i leave a window open and trigger the ultrasonics then the hazards go off with the alarm and I get an "Alarm code 12 Ultrasound alarm activated" trigger event. Seems like it's a siren generated event but why no "Siren communication" codes? Currently it is reporting siren battery "not okay". Hoping that when the siren battery has charged up it may stop triggering, hang on was that a pig flying over? Shaun.
