This is the Annoying part isn't it.

:- " Customer says the fault started after the AA fitted a new battery".

Lets Blame the last person that worked on it.

The fault hasn't happened due to it having a faulty battery and having massive voltage surges as the starter motor jumps in and out due to insuficient power to crank it over.

Its Always Happened because Someones Fitted a Battery.

I got a garage ringing me this week wanting me to tell them why the Green Flag had managed to kill a Clio instrument cluster as it failed after the car was jump started.

I gave them my opinion that as long as No one has connected the leads the wrong way round and they have surge protection in the jump leads, then it is "NOT THEIR FAULT" and they shouldn't be trying to claim off them or put the blame onto them. ??

Blame the problem onto the fault that caused the non start, Not onto the guy that went out and Helped the customer to get the DEAD car running. ?? ( Or blame it on Crap French Electronics, not capable of working outside its 12-14.5v range and having no surge protection)

Where theres blame, theres a claim.

OHH P.S I would also try a Reboot leaving the battery disconnected for a while to allow all the power to drain away. But Beware if the car never starts again after the reboot, It will be "YOUR FAULT" as you Disconnected the battery and it was OK before that.

    Tony.
