We have a Honda CRV on our ramp at the moment. the owner has just had new tyres fitted and asked us to set his wheel alignment because his previous tyres had wore out very quickly on the edges.
So we checked it over, checked for play, checked for any damage, checked tyre pressures, checked the steering wheel from lock to lock then clamped it in the centre & put on the gauges.
The gauges showed that it was miles out of alignment so we adjusted the track rod ends. The N/S seemed to adjust up fine but the O/S has adjusted in all the way to the end of the threads and still sits a mile off.
We found out the track rod ends had been changed, so we ordered new ones thinking possibly the wrong ones had been fitted but no they are identical.
My mind then started to think that something on the car must be bent or twisted or kinked. I've now checked everything that I can think of for kinks & compared gaps from side to side but cannot find anything that suggests damage.
I'm completely out of ideas at this point. It seems like the O/S tie rod is too long but how on earth can that be possible?
Has anyone got any ideas before I lose what little hair I have left from head scratching lol
Thank you for at least reading
Dougie
