Year of Manufacture *: 2005
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: G9T
I looked at the above vehicle last week with regard to it is now using about 1L of engine oil in 500 miles, blue smoke on startup sometimes, fault code 1815 inlet air/boost pressure sensor circuit fault.
I removed the top engine cover to find oil in the centre 2 injector recesses and surrounding area.
I scoped the boost pressure sensor and left it running for 1/2 hr - all ok.
Took it out for 'enthusiastic' road test, getting 1.7 bar boost, while datalogging sensor - all ok. Opened the bonnet to find the top of the engine (inlet manifold to cam cover area) soaked in engine oil.
The inlet manifold and cam cover box is all a one piece plastic unit and have found out that they crack.
I used Smoke Pro on the inlet and nothing showed.
To see if boost was leaking from inlet into cam cover I put a vacuum/pressure gauge in the dipstick tube got zero movement.
Has anyone else had this, do the manifolds crack between inlet and cam cover box and are the cracks visible externally?
Customer is dropping the vehicle back next week for further investigation and it looks like removing the manifold/cam cover box could take hours, so I wouldn't mind the benefit of someone elses experience here.
Thanks, Martin.
