I watched as much of the game as I could, being the ONLY member of the SteelerNation on here. Also, I spent time yesterday watching highlights of the games on NFL Network. The only place I've heard of whining over the "so-called" "phantom call" has come from Viking fans. The reason that the call was made by the officials is because Dugan, when he realized that his block wouldn't stop Harrison, threw UP his legs. The definition in the rule book states that such an act constitutes "Tripping". If Dugan had been parralel with the ground, i.e. had his legs not been thrown upward, than there would not have been a penalty. However, Dugan threw his legs upward to impede Harrison. Hence the rule violation. Hence the flag being thrown. Hence no touchdown. There were over 130 plays during the game. I challenge you to show how that SINGLE play decided the outcome of the entire game. You forget to mention the penalty against Miller at the end of the first quarter, that negated a touchdown for Pittsburgh. That penalty, which happened when Miller's route was impeded by a Viking defender should have been called against Minnesota. However, it wasn't. It was called against Miller. The difference between Pittsburgh (and their fan base) and Minnesota (and their fan base) is that what happens in regards to the officials is out of any one's hands. What matters is how the team plays on the field and handles what happens with the officials. The Viking offense lost the game for Minnesota, not the officials. The Steeler defense won the game, not the officials. Get off your soapbox, stop crying, and get over it. If you can't, than it shows that the 6-0 start for the Vikings was as much of a fluke as last year's 14-2 season record for Tennessee was.
