Posted by Antoinette Smith on 4/3/2005, 10:12 pm Forwarded message: Dear Horse Lovers, Kaufman, Texas mayor Paula Bacon is running for reelection on May 7, 2005. Her opposition has vowed to raise $20,000 to unseat her --- quite a lot for a town of 6,600 with unpaid, volunteer elected officials. The Dallas Crown horse slaughter plant has been a huge issue, with Paula insisting that Dallas Crown comply with our sewer ordinance. This matter is pending before Kaufman County Court at law, but if Paula is not reelected, the court case will probably be dropped because her opponent supports Dallas Crown. I’m asking you to contribute to Paula’s campaign. Even $20 will help. Send contributions to: Paula Bacon 1504 S. Houston St. Kaufman, Tx 75142 Here are two recent articles written about Paula. The Dallas Morning News piece tells of the Dallas Crown controversy. The second article names Paula as one of the five most influential people in Kaufman County. http://www.kaufmanzoning.net/horsemeat/DMN03132005.htm http://www.kaufmanzoning.net/Bacon/KCLife122004.htm Thank you for any help Mary S. Nash Kaufman, Texas ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks for caring. Paula seriously needs your support in her re-election campaign.

This notice pertains to everyone out there who is against the slaughter of horses for human consumption. If this is you, then it is your solemn duty to donate to the re-election of Paula Bacon. We must fight these slaughterhouses from every direction, and pollution of the local water supply and other violations Dallas Crown perpetrates against the residents of Kaufman (Texas) are darn good reasons to do so, if horse slaughter isn't enough- to make you dig down deep into your pocket and send some money for Paula's re-election. I agree with Mary Nash and I want to the the first, acting as an individual and not as a representative of the United States Equine Sanctuary & Rescue (check IRS laws on donating to a political candidate before making donating as a 501c3), to pledge $20 to Paula's re-election. And, I challenge each of you to do the same, if not more. Please, this is for the horses, do all you can. Write letters to the editor in Kaufman. The residents have to be out of thier minds to want to elect someone who wants to allow a foreign-owned horse slaughterhouse to pollute thier water supply!

Note : : : Paula Bacon is and has been an excellent Mayor to the City of Kaufman. I strongly suggest you read the articles that Mary Nash included links to before her signature. I've never heard of someone in public office doing so much good for a community in so many different ways. Paula is a good Mayor even without horse slaughter issue being a factor. Please rest assurred that when you do send in your $20.00 (or more!) that you won't be helping elect someone who might not otherwise be good for the community.
