I am in New Port Richey, Fla.
OK, here's the story. For a couple of years, my next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman that had retired from Pontiac, and had moved to Florida, and I used to help out once in awhile doing odd jobs around his house that he just was incapable of doing himself. When he passed a couple of years ago, his relatives gave me permission to go through his garage, and take whatever I wanted. Along with some antique tools and such, I came across a paper bag which contained these inserts. I am quite sure they are the real deal, NOS stock from back in the day, and I would like to see them on the restored cars, rather than sitting on my shelf.
#1 is a 1950 amber insert that has a '3' stamped into a circle where it would recess into the ornement. It's pretty much pristeen except for some light surface scratches.
#2 is also a 1950. It has what looks like an 'x' stamped into the circle and is also in great condition.
#3 is a 1951 amber insert that has a '3M' stamped on it, and a scuff near the back of the chief's jaw on the drivers side, other than that, it is perfect.
#4 is also a 1951. It has a '5M' stamped on it, and has a few what looks to be stress lines in the amber, but otherwise is in great shape.
I know that there are guys selling reproductions on ebay for $80.00 a pop. But if you want the real thing on your car, I have them. I'm thinking $400.00 for the lot would be a fair exchange, but I would be willing to break them up, so let's talk.
