Although the PLS-4 is a better test, I still don't think it gives really good information for practical application. I like the CELF-4 for children 4 yrs and up. I love the Rossetti but it only goes to age 3. I like criterion tests the best...especially for new therapists in the field because it lets you look at development and gives a better idea of what needs to be done. I think clinical observation skills and knowing childhood development are the most important pieces in assessment. Sometimes I feel like who cares about the standard testing except to qualify children. I am a firm believer in functioning rather than what a score looks like on a standardized test.
