From the minute I started reading it, I began to understand what I was doing wrong with these children. I found myself saying "duh" A LOT because I was doing what the last post suggested which was drilling the difficult tasks on which they continued to do poorly. If the child has problems with attention and you DON'T teach them another way to attend or give them a strategy then they will continue to do poorly on the tasks, right??? DUH! What a simple concept, but now you need to know how to teach them to attend in a different way. Children with processing disorders don't subvocalize like you and me...they don't know how. It has to be taught. Some are not aware of the many distractions they face and deal with everyday until you start to talk about them. This are just of the few things I learned from using this program. This book gives REAL strategies and I have been using it for a third grader for a couple of months now with great success. He has become more aware of his environment, himself, and his needs. It goes step by step, lesson by lesson and I am a big fan of structure where one lesson builds on the previous. I highly recommend it!
