Hi,
I have used the PLS:3, then currently PLS:4, throughout my ten year career (but can't spell career!) I don't like the PLS for birth to 2 years but for ages 2-5, I really like it. I have heard other SLPs say it is too time consuming. However, the depth of information you get out of this test is great! I feel once I've done this one, that I can look at the protocal and see where their skills and defacits are in a very detailed way. It also hase a great family quesionaire, and artic screen on the back. I think it's a keeper. There is also a PLS:4:Screening Test, that my Head Start uses for our fall screens. We tab the picture manuals from the PLS tests and use them along with the screening protocals, when we have several people screening at once. We also use the PLS:Spanish alot! It's nice how they go together. I think there is a reason the PLS:4 is so commonly used. The 4th edition has caregiver report in alot of the questions for toddlers and early preschool, that is nice for getting info when the children won't talk to the SLP.
No, I don't work for their sales department! Just alot of good experiences with this test.
However, would love any feedback if people feel differently.
Kelly
