Hi newccc - I was browsing this discussion board and came upon your question from back in May. I know this response is late, but I just wanted to add - what were his previous goals? What skills would his parents like to see developed? I would develop a questionnaire for the parents, asking them what communication skills they feel are important, what they feel their child's strengths and weaknesses are, what is important to them as a family? Then I would try to contruct some goals that reflect that. If parents hopes are unrealistic, you can have that discussion with them and together you can develop goals that get at skills that he CAN realistically accomplish. I hope this is helpful to you.
