I know it is easy for us to let the games take over and then the kids think only about that. Soemtimes I start by reviewing the homework paper I asked them to practice for today or I give them a new paper to practice and we go over it together. I take a few minutes to do that with each child and then we may go on to a game. You can use one activity for more than once purpose. Today we're going to talk about how things are alike. How are a pencil and a pen alike? They are both use for writing. I usually do one as an example and then pose questions to students. Whatever the language concept is you can do it as a group activity. Everything does not have to be presented as a game. We aren't there to entertain them.
