We have been using a book from Lingua Systems called Functional Vocabulary for Adolescents and Adults. It has excellent Life skills topics and a variety of receptive vocab, receptive activities, expressive vocabulary, expressive activities, and critical thinking and problem solving. Illustrations are great too and the students know what the pictures are supposed to be.
