Welcome to Ask Ms. Denner, a Texas Justice Dot Org owned message board. We are here for those interested in disruptive groups in and out of TDCJ. Here, we discuss what they are all about. Confidential gang information will not be allowed to be posted. Doing so, would be counterproductive. Discussions will be general in nature regarding the history of Texas gangs, methods in identifying, confirming, interdiction, suppression, and other matters that are not classified. Information that is in the public domain is of course, welcome.
Your moderators are Terry Pelz and Maryanne Denner, both nationally recognized in the field of prison gang issues. Mr. Pelz is a published author on the Texas Aryan Brotherhood and has testified in both state and federal courts on prison gangs. As an assistant warden in TDCJ, he developed the first gang intelligence office on the unit level in the late 1980s. Since then, each TDCJ unit has established a gang intelligence office. He has appeared on CourtTV, The History Channel's "Gangland," MSNBC Investigates, and with Leopard Films, a British television production company, which produced the documentary, "America's Deadliest Prison Gang," an episode on the several Aryan Brotherhood prison gangs in America. He has conducted gang seminars for law enforcement agencies, probation, and parole.
Mr. Pelz continues to research America's prison gangs. He is also an adjunct instructor in criminal justice at Wharton County Junior College. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in criminal justice.
Ms. Maryanne Denner was a former gang sergeant with TDCJ for many years. She conducts gang seminars for public school employees, law enforcement agencies, probation, parole, and private prison companies. She has appeared in Gangland episodes on The History Channel, with similar projects in the works. She remains current on TDCJ disruptive groups. Though a former employee of TDCJ, many in the agency still seek her advice on gang issues. She presently is a dropout specialist for the Houston school district.
