Hey fellas,
There are a couple other things you may want to check on those fish to tell if they are spots or largemouths. IF they are spots, the jaw usually does not extend back past the eye when the mouth is closed, but in largemouth it will. The scales on a largemouths cheek will be as large as those on the body but a spot will have smaller scales on their cheek than what they have on their body. Finally, the dorsal fin on a largemouth is almost disconnected between the spiney fin and the soft fin, whereas the spiney and soft dorsal fins on a spot are well connected. Like Rusty said, the tongue patch is one of many indicators, but sometimes isn't reliable. Usually if you look at all of these factors you can tell the difference between the two, but it is definetely tough. good fishing.
