It really looks like a Spotted (Kentucky) bass. There maybe a dark spot on the gill plate (look along the lateral line and follow to the eye). Also, there are spot marks on the belly area. However, it's really hard to tell by the pic. The mouth does look small, but that may be due to the picture or the large belly making the mouth look smaller than what it really is. Dinty has reported catching spots out at Kaufmann, so it is very possible to have some in Crystal lake as well. The sure fire way is whether the tounge was rough or not.
