Look at the Elite 100 trail. All of a sudden here is BASS saying...ok, so now you either pay $55,000 in entry fees, or go somewhere else, take it or leave it. With the federation, they come along and say, ok, well you are paying us X amount, we want more money but we arent going to show you where that money is going, however, we will make it quite obvious that that money isnt going to go to you. So, thats our deal, take it or leave it. Then, when threatened with the loss of somewhere close to 50,000 memebers, BASS changes pace and says,ok ok, we screwed up, sorry, here is our "new" offer, we were going to do this the whole time, just wanted to test you first. Same thing they did with the pros...first they say, we are reserving X space on your jersey and boat for OUR sponsors. They pros say, ok, have fun, we are going to FLW or do our own thing, and BASS says...guys, we were just joking of course, we take it back, we are only going to put the Bassmaster logo on those areas. It seems to be a trend they have developed, open mouth, insert GIANT foot, close mouth, open ears and eyes, see everyone pissed off and leaving, open mouth again, take out GIANT foot and insert significantly smaller foot, close mouth again. When they take out the GIANT foot and put in the smaller foot, everyone says, see, they realize they messed up and they fixed it, but really, they didnt "fix" anything, they put a little band-aid on it, till next year, when they can put that GIANT foot back in, and take it out and replace it with a once again smaller one. Eventually, after a few years, all those smaller feet, and all the "compromises" that the anglers "make" with ESPN/BASS will end up being the same thing as the GIANT foot would have been in the first place, it just took a couple extra years. I have nothing but respect for what BASS did for the sport of bass fishing under Ray Scott, but this isnt the same BASS and I am glad to see that the federation has acknowledged that. This is now corporate America. A corporate America which doesnt give a damn about the fishermen who have supported it for 30 some years, they only care about making money, and if the federation cant make them millions, then they dont need them.

I agree with Dinty for the most part. BASS has taken a very harsh stance with the Federation and has shown an unwillingness to work "with" the federation. Everything they have proposed has been...we are BASS, here is what we say, so take it or leave it.
The same corporate America that everyone has been accusing FLW of being for the past few years, but that FLW version now looks tame and mild compared to the BASS version with ESPN and Disney calling the shots. At least Irwin admits that he wants to sell boats. BASS tries to hide and say, we still care about the fishermen, this is still about growing the sport. Well its time that people stand up and call that line exactly what it is...B.S. and I am glad that the Federation has done it.
