Ann I think that what you are experiencing with this palm is pretty much normal. We all have observed different "sicknesses" in our palms after the rough winter we have had, from spear pull to new deformed growth... which I believe is what you have since the palm started pushing new growth. One or 2 fronds may come out small and brown but the following ones should be ok.
