Sorry it took so long before i seen this. The tassles you are speaking of happens with wind blowing the spear during transpotation.. Palmettos are very hard to transplant and some stats suggest on its best day have about 73% chance of living during transplanting because of the root loss. Im more of a nature kinda person i think all water should come from the top. So make sure you water the top of the tree, the ground will still get the water...
