It's all in the context. There were some spectacular tropicals at UTK, and the gardens of Knoxville SPS members and others were impressive. Not Savannah or Charleston, of course, yet a great demonstration of subtropical plants and long-term palms growing within sight of the Great Smoky Mountains. Who'd have thought it?
