Zones are based on your low winter temperatures so all zone 8 climates don't have the same length of growing seasons.
Even thought the MFP prefer more sunlight, in GA it should do ok in partial shade if given good drainage as this palm dislikes too much water especially in winter.
I have 2 in partial shade, and 2 in full sun, this past harsh winter all survived with no protection but the shaded ones sustained more damage than the ones in full sun. All 4 are about 10 gal. size.
