After further investigation I believe I have the dreaded palmetto weevil. I seen what I think is an adult weevil in one of the trees not doing so well this afternoon. Solid black bug about 2 inches long that quickly disappeared in to the top of the tree so, I was only able to see it for a few seconds. Looked alot like a roach.
I immediately sprayed all the trees with an insecticde.
The bud and central spear is still very green and healthy looking. The part that has lost it's color looks like fronds that probably should have been removed anyway.
If anyone else has any suggestions I would appreciate hearing them. Is there any hope or is it all down hill from here?
