You should plant Sabal minor, Rhapidophylum hystrix(Needle palm), or Trachycarpus fortuni, also called the chinese Windmill palm. It is growing and doing well in Whitley
county -east of you. Contact Russell Johnson in Rockholds, Ky at 606- 549 -2732. He can fill you in on the hardiness of lots of subtropicals. He is a master at growing subtropicals in your zone. HE grows evrything from bamboo, longleaf pine to live oak there.
