I've had a pindo palm planted in the ground in Nashville for 2yrs now. I protect it well. It did great last winter. However, this winter, during a severe cold spell in January, the heavy tarp I use to cover it blew off in the middle of the night. All fronds were damaged severely, so I cut them all off today. A new developing frond that was emerging from the center of the tree is still well intact with the insides of the tree (i.e. I can't pull it out).
Does anyone have advice as to what I should do next? Will new fronds force out the old baby one stuck in the middle, or do I need to remove as much of that as I can, too?
Thanks!
