Mike,
Those sound like great palms and good additions to the plant sale and auction. It promises to be a good meeting, and after reading Richard Travis' articles for the past couple of issues of Southeastern Palms, am looking forward to hearing him speak.
For the auction I'm bringing an Auaracaria angustifolia (Paraná pine) and several books: Riffle's Pocket Guide to Palms, Sunbelt Gardening by Tom Peace (wide range of plants for the Southeast and Southwest with color combination ideas), and Ogden's Garden Bulbs for the South.
Elsewhere, Tom M. posted his list of auction plants:
5 gallon Phoenix sylvestris
Washingtonia robusta with 6 feet of clear trunk
Various agaves
Torreya taxifolia
Cold-hardy oleander
'Silver Queen' Syagrus
Hard-to-find Sabal species, including bermudana, uresana, and pumos
Loquat
Rhapis humilis
Chamaedorea radicalis x microspadix
Chamaedorea microspadix
...and many, many more.
Besides being anxious to see how the Bamboo Farm plantings look, I want to get by the Armstrong Atlantic University campus. Their horticulturalist Phillip Schretter has planted an amazing variety of things there including many broad-leaved evergreens and a great eucalyptus collection. I once asked him if buying so many unusual plants raised eyebrows with the budget people and he said that in the long run it's cheaper than grass.
See you there.
Jeff
