I have two older Jellies (been in ground for about 10 years) that are too big to protect with any type of covering or even to fold in their fronds. I have just about decided to let them fend for themselves next week and hope for the best. It's still a bit early for specifics in the weather department but one B'ham meteorologist is calling for the temp Thursday to be in the 30-35 degree range for the high and an overnight low from 12-17. He stated they may have to nudge those numbers downward the closer we get to the event. Should I just chance it? Thoughts? One of the palms is on the southern side of the house (gets no wind from winter) and the other is on the front (west) and gets the wind. Both are within 5 feet of the walls/foundation. Both have gone through the past three winters with no protection and very little if any damage.
