Hi, my girlfriend just started going to college in Massachusetts. She absolutely loves palm trees and while I’m not sure if there’s a kind of palm tree that can even survive up there, I’m hoping you might be able to help me find one that can live there, so I can give it to her as a Christmas gift.
She’ll be there for four years, so it would need to stay small and indoors during this time. After the four years she’ll be going to North Carolina, where should could at that point plant it outside.
So to summarize, are there any slow growing, or just permanently small palm trees that can handle the cold weather in Massachusetts. The palm tree would be kept in a heated room (60 to 80 Fahrenheit depending on the season) by a window with good sunlight coming from the northeast.
My search is looking extremely doubtful, so if you have anything you could point me towards, that would be great.
Thanks,
~ Austin
