Donna, just to confuse you, I'm another Alex replying to your message and like Alex_7b, I'm from the Atlanta area. I have two large mule palms and three smaller ones in the ground here in my intown Atlanta location. I wrap the large mules in frost cloth during the winter just to be safe as they were quite an investment. Like (the other) Alex said, they're reliable down to about 20 with no damage but their fronds are very pliable and easy to tie up in a bundle and cover with frost cloth for the winter or for particularly cold nights. My preferred source for Mule Palms is Moultrie Palms near Jacksonville Florida. Do a Google search and you will find the website. This couple (Mr. and Mrs. Lewis) specialize in Mule Palms and they are particularly beautiful. Here's mine in Atlanta.
