I purchased two 4 year old windmill palms on a trip to florida in June this year. As soon as I got home I transplanted them in my yard. The ground is hard red clay so I made the holes about a foot bigger and deeper than the root ball. I filled the extra space with the universal miracle grow plant mix with slow release fertilizer included. June and July the trees looked great. While watering one day i walked away and ended up leaving the water on one tree for about a day. A couple weeks later the trees seemed to start yellowing. The one that got over watered was the worse of the two, but it is smaller too. The lower fronds are the worse but even the upper ones and the new chutes dont look healthy. I thought maybe I had washed away the fertilizer so i gave them some Miracle grow shake and feed palm fertilizer on top of the ground. It dosent appear to have helped. I have ordered some Jobes palm fertilizer stakes and some fungi thats supposed to help the roots. I also have another different type palm in a planter that keeps them company and it still looks good. I was told when i purchased it that it was called a blue ribbon palm but I havent been able to match it up with anything. Does anyone have any suggestions for this newbee that might help and has any of you ever heard of blue ribbon palm tree?
