I am struggling with fertlization protocols. I am in charge of fertilizing 1,850 Palms trees here in southern California for a costal municipality as a private contractor. No one here really has a clue. We have had suggestion all over the place.
I like the liquids because I can go below the feeder roots of most of the competing plant material. The boss want to do spikes or broadcast feeding around the palm.
My little bit of research has shown that nitrogen is rarely the problem with Palms. I have a supplier who can get me custom formulations.
Even though I know this is wrong without going into a lot of lab expense to determine case by case needs how would you do a large fertilization program for King Palms. Queen and Mediterranean Fan Palms? Most of the Fan Palms are in cluster of three to five trunks. How do I calculate that?
The contract calls for a mandatory one time a year. How often should I really be doing it to minimize salt damage.
Help please??!!!
Thanks,
Joe
