The Southeastern Palm Society invites everyone, both members and their guests, and non-members, to the SPS spring meeting in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday, April 19, 2008.
We haven't met in Tallahassee since 1999 (it was among my first SPS meetings), and this long-overdue return visit is a spring shopping spree that hits every unique and well-stocked nursery in the area, and includes a relxaing break at lovely Wakulla Springs State Park. Our local members in Tallahasse have done a great job in planning an interesting day, and there will be something for everyone.
Details of the agenda, directions, a few photos, and links to Wakulla Springs and the nurseries we'll visit are posted on the SPS website.
Tallahassee may seem a little beyond our range of tried-and-true meeting sites, but from many locations in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama, it's about the same drive (or shorter) as to Savannah. Last October I visited every stop on the meeting agenda (some for the second and third time), and it was well worth the drive.

PS: The spring issue of Southeastern Palms is at the printer. It's the longest and most colorful yet, and is entirely devoted to landscaping with palms, including principles of design, companion plants, and even a list of no-nos. Wish I'd had it in hand when I began planting palms 15 years ago.
