I am near Rome and have always used multi-purpose fertilizer (miracle gro etc. 15-30-15). I am not real sure of the new formula yet. With the old, My Windmills have grown substantially in the past 4-5 years and are now nearing 20+ feet topping the two story house. I feed heavy from March till October letting them Harden off for Winter. They do get Treats like Palm specialties from time to time. I love mine. Enjoy
