Ok, I sure appreciate the information on germination of the cycad seeds. For anyone who has trouble finding a 'heat mat' another old trick is to obtain a vat about at least 4 inches deep, full of coarse sand (gunite sandblaster's sand) is the best. Go to a 'plumbler's supply' and purchase 'heating cables' used to wrap water pipes to keep them from bursting in severe freezing weather, and bury them under the sand in your vat so that they will provide bottom heat for your (seed), 'or unrooted pups cut from cycads'. This can be used over and over again for seed , or pups, and you can treat the sand with fungicide. Keeps everything very sanitary "and it works". Robert
