I love the black petiole. I almost would say this one was a trachy but I know he is willing to protect his palms (the hint helped).

I can live with Tamaulipas if this one isn't in his yard because its BIG. Also, leaf "folding" in the older leaves doesn't look like S. domingensis and reminds me more of S. minor.
Although the leaves look really blue, maybe its just because it appears to be overcast. This would push me more towards S. domingensis or S. uresana (maybe even S. palmetto).
