I purchased and planted a Mexican Fan I bought in Florida. It has a 5' trunk and considerable diameter at the base. It has been in the ground now about 5 months with no noticeable new growth but the spear appears to still be alive and green. I prepared the planting hole by adding sand and fine mulch to aid in drainage since the location was a clay soil.
It was moved from a zone 10 or 11 to my zone 8.
I'm hoping its still alive and in shock, but if it is, how long should it take to begin growth?
Also, how much should I be watering it?
Should I be watering the crown too?
