When it was first introduced about 10 years ago, Chamaerops humilis 'Cerifera' was touted as possibly being more cold-hardy than standard Chamaerops, as Cerifera is from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. I don't know if that has ever been determined. The palm does look different from standard Chamaerops (whatever "standard" may mean) and it has been fairly slow in my experience. I have a specimen here in St. Marys that is finally taking on a size that would be described as something other than "Lilliputian."
