Butia Cap palm dying - help!

I have 3 Butia Cap (Pindo) palms. 1 died the first winter. By "died" i mean, it grew brown, dead fronds from it's center. I got the $ back. Then, a bigger one did the same thing this past winter (colder than normal for Birmingham, Al). The funny thing is, the tree SEEMS to stay alive... just will not grow new fronds. I have larger Windmill palms that are doing GREAT here. Any tips or advice much appreciated! Jimmy
