Hey Randy!
I don't know about palms that don't have much in the way of roots but, I've given my poted palms foliar feedings and they seem to thrive. I also add a seaweed addative to provide some micro nutrients and hopefully make them grow a bit faster. It's never hurt them and they are lush and green. I do make VERY sure that they have enough time to dry before sunset. I've had other plants that seem to get fungal infections if they are wet too often after sundown," seems to be worse when it's cool."
I'd also keep the fert week and feed everytime I watered until the plant is starting to get established.
