I have had several folks stress the importance of overhead irrigation of a freshly planted hurricane cut palmetto, and I was wondering if when I trickle water from my hose directly into the growth spear area and let it run down the trunk to water the root zone, would it help with recovery of the overall health of the palm if I added a diluted solution of Miracle Gro (in line) to the palm?
I realize with minimal roots, the fert would be wasted, but if feeding from above, wouldn't the growth spear and perhaps the trunk absorb some of the fert? I am sure someone else has thought of this, but I wanted to know if it would be a waste or not, and if there might be any possible drawbacks...
